Welcome to the Student Ministry of
Cherokee Hills Baptist Church!
We have a tremendous group of teens grades 6-12 at our church and ministries and activities designed to meet the needs of students in today’s culture! We have over 30 adult volunteers who love young people and who invest their time on a weekly basis in students’ lives. Our weekly schedule of activities and special events throughout the year are designed with students in mind – to provide meaningful opportunities to grow in a relationship with God and to build friendships with other students. If you have any questions or need more information about any aspect of our student ministry, please contact us. The student ministry office can be reached at 405-721-5338. Or you can contact our student minister through email.
Weekly Activities/Ministries:
Wednesday Evenings
(Gravitate - Our Weekly Student Ministry Event):
Holy Grounds Cafe': 5:30-6:30 pm
Activities available to students include "open gym" in our activity center, the youth game room, and the Holy Grounds cafe where students can get their favorite types of food and soft drinks.
Gravitate: 6:30-7:30 pm
Wednesday nights at CHBC are designed to leave students wanting more. Wanting more when it comes to worship, more of God's Word, and more of the fellowship that takes place while we are there. The atmosphere is that of acceptance and diversity. Since our Wedesday night outreach time is designed to know God and make Him known, we see many new faces every week. Come join us and bring a friend! Gravitate meets in CHBC’s youth room located on the church’s 2nd floor.
7:30-8:00 pm Open Gym (Parents please pick up your students no later than 8:15 pm).
Sunday Mornings:
Bible Study groups (Sunday School) Sundays 9:30 - 10:30 am.
Our student Bible Study is divided by grade and gender on Sunday mornings. We have 11 different Bible Study classes. Every Sunday over 20 adult volunteers work with our students teaching them how to apply the principles of the Bible to their lives. This year we are going through a Bible Study called "Christ" a tool from student life bible study.
Sunday Evenings:
6:30-8:00 pm Plug'd
Plug's is our Sunday night discipleship small groups. Students are divided into small group homes for this semester.
Special Events Throughout the Year:
Mission Trip: Each summer, the CHBC student ministry goes on a mission trip. Over the last five years, our church has built a partnership with several churches in Ciudad Acuna , Mexico on the Texas/Mexican border. Our plans are to continue developing ministry in Ciudad Acuna and participating in mission projects there. Mission Trip dates for summer 2009 should be posted by December 2008. If you have any questions about qualifying to participate in 2009’s youth mission trip, please contact the student ministry office.
Special Weekend Events: Each winter (typically in February), we host an “in-town” retreat called Vintage Weekend. We gear up with 4-5 other churches every year to put on the best weekend for the winter. Students stay in various host homes for the weekend with a group of their peers, and guest youth leaders guide our students through an incredible weekend! Vintage Weekend is traditionally one of the biggest and best things we do all year long!
Fellowship and Other Student Ministry Events: Our student ministry is consistently having fellowship and relationship building opportunities on Sunday nights after our evening service and on Friday nights after ball games, etc. For a current schedule of events and locations, please call the student ministry office or pick up a weekly CHBC news and info sheet in the youth room or at Grand Central or check the Upcoming events section of the website.
